During my hospital career, both as an internist and a cardiologist, I cared for patients in advanced stages of their diseases. Over time, I became increasingly aware of the true importance of prevention and began to place greater emphasis on extending healthy life expectancy rather than simply prolonging life affected by illness, when we are often trying to address conditions that could have been prevented or treated much earlier.
I consider the use of new yet evidence-based technologies to be highly beneficial in achieving these goals, as they can improve both clinical outcomes and patient comfort.
